January 5 – Randy Dupre on “The Hero’s Journey” and Mike McHugh “Humor Writing for the Non-Humorist”.

February 2 –  Sylvia Ney on “The Power of Research and the Interview” and Dr. Philip Williams – President of McNeese State University will be speaking on “Finding Your Peculiar Voice.”

March 2  – Pam Thibodeaux on “Tax Tips for Writers” and Angie Dilmore on “Twelve Things I’ve Learned in Twelve Years of Freelance Writing” – Tips on Writing Non-Fiction.

April 6 – Gene Steech – Investigator with Homeland Security will be discussing “Formation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and its mission.”

May 4 – Monica Hebert – “Social Media Maven” discussing the importance, uses, and goals for social media. Randy Dupre on “Creating people instead of Characters.”

June 1 – Member readings. Bring something to share or critique.

July 6 – Dr. William Sutton, Co-author of  Herman Frasch  The Sulphur King . Sutton was born in San Antonio, Texas, attended public schools, and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin.  Following military service he enrolled at Louisiana State University where he received the Ph.D. in History.  He has taught at the University of the Orange Free State in South Arica, the Alamo Colleges, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.  He is currently retired and lives in Prague, Czech Republic and San Antonio. Mike McHugh also spoke about various publishers.

August 3 – Lydia Hebert, teacher, will be speaking on POV in your writing.

September 7 – Michael Moreau, Science Fiction Writer who runs a production company, he will speak on Creativity without Constraints.

October 5 – Member’s Reading, come with your best 5 minutes of original poetry, fiction or non-fiction. Lesson with Cliff Seiber – a review of Stephen King’s “On Writing”

November 2 – Speaker Bobby Dower, a managing editor at the Am. Press, presentation on his writing and his new adventure as a personal historian.

November 9 – Conference

December 7  – Christmas Party
