Please use 12 pt Times New Roman for everything.

Poetry: rhymed or unrhymed up to 25 lines

Fiction or nonfiction up to 3,000 words

COVER SHEET: Use a separate cover sheet for each entry. Put your name, complete address, telephone number, and email address in the upper left-hand corner. In the upper right- hand corner, list category and number of words or lines (whichever is applicable). Double space six times and center the title. Double space again and type the first line of your story/poem (to avoid confusion in case of a title being used by more than one member). DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON ANY OTHER PAGE. Cover sheets will be kept by the contest chairman for identification of the winning entries and will not be sent to the judges with the submissions.

ALL ENTRIES – This must be your original unpublished work. Public access on the Internet is publication. Each member may enter TWO SEPARATE CATEGORIES, for example: one fiction and one poem, or one nonfiction and one fiction, but not two fiction pieces, two poems or two non-fiction works. Each of the three categories (Fiction, Non-fiction, and Poetry) must have at least five entries or the category will be cancelled. Each category will be independently judged by outside professionals.

FICTION AND NON-FICTION: Entries must be typed and double-spaced with one-inch margins. For the first page, double space eight times from the top of the page, center the title, double space again, and begin the story. On each succeeding page of story, type title and page number in the upper right- hand corner WITHOUT AUTHOR’S NAME.

POETRY: Poems must be typed but may be single-spaced and may begin at the top of the page. List number of text lines in upper right-hand corner. On each succeeding page, type title and page number in upper right-hand corner WITHOUT AUTHOR’S NAME.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES TO BE RECEIVED IN THE CHAIRMAN’S INBOX IS 5 PM September 15, 2014. Only emailed entries are accepted. Entries which do not conform to all of the specifications state in these rules will be disqualified and not judged. Judges will be asked to return judging sheets and any comments they want. Decisions of the judges are final.

AWARDS: Certificates for first through third places. 2015 membership dues (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2015) for first place winner in each category.

Winners and awards will be presented at the 2014 Conference on Nov. 8.
